The Dubrovnik summer season runs from late June through September, with July and August as the peak. This guide covers what is on and when.
July and August — peak season
The Dubrovnik Summer Festival (10 July-25 August) is the centrepiece. More than 80 events use Fort Lovrijenac, Rector's Palace, Sponza Palace, Revelin, Gradac Park and Gundulić Square. This is the most in-demand period for accommodation and the most crowded time in the Old Town.
June and September — shoulder season
June sees the opening of outdoor spaces and some pre-festival events. September is significantly quieter: the Summer Festival has ended, but temperatures remain warm, the city walls circuit is uncrowded, and the Marin Držić Theatre season is about to begin.
October through May — off-season
The Marin Držić Theatre runs September to June. The Lazareti programme continues year-round. The Dubrovnik Symphony Orchestra performs autumn and winter concerts. See our Off-Season Dubrovnik guide.
