History
Revelin is the largest of Dubrovnik's defensive bastions, a massive free-standing fort protecting the eastern approach to the Old Town, completed in 1551. During the Dubrovnik Summer Festival its broad open terrace has served as the stage for ballet and contemporary dance. In recent decades Revelin has a split personality: festival performances in daylight and one of Croatia's most atmospheric nightclubs — Club Revelin — after dark, with DJs performing beneath stone vaulting. The contrast between its 16th-century shell and contemporary programming makes it one of the more unusual event spaces in Europe.
